Sketchup is an invaluable tool for digitally reconstructing the past.  Furness Vale station once had  a booking office, waiting rooms on both platforms and welcoming coal fires.  Here are views of the station as it appeared in 1960.

Errwood Hall in Derbyshire's Goyt Valley was once the home of the Grimshaw family whose wealth came from Manchester cotton.  The family died out and in 1930 the Hall was purchased by Stockport Corporation. For a short while the building served as a youth hostel  but it was demolished when the valley was flooded to create a new reservoir.
The foundations and a small section of wall remain in situ.  This Sketchup model was created from old photographs in order to bring Errwwod Hall "bak to life"

The Cage at Lyme Park was originally built as a hunting lodge. Standing on high ground it is a familiar local landmark.  This Sketchup model was created from photographs.

Network Rail recently proposed replacement of a Grade 2 listed cast iron railway bridge in Whaley Bridge.  This created considerable local opposition and a Sketchup model was created to show the design of the replacement.

A little more local nostalgia.  The village bank closed 40 years ago and has been re-created digitally together with the neighbouring antique shop.
