 Capriglio, Piemonte
The little village of Capriglio in Piemonte has a claim to fame that might seem obscure to the outside world, being the birthplace of Mamma Margherita, mother of Don Bosco.  This 19th century priest dedicated his life to the welfare and education of poor children. He was the founder of the Salesian Society who once owned Shrigley Hall, then a college and now an hotel just a few miles from Furness Vale.

Below the Capriglio church and the museum dedicated to Margherita and set into a retaining wall is this window and door; it's original purpose unknown.
Villanova d'Asti, Piemonte
Everywhere in Italy, there are towers. Clock towers, Bell towers, Church towers. They stand sentinel even in the smallest of villages.  Towns like Villanova d'Asti in Piemonte often have several.  This one is in the main square.
A barn at Ringstones near Furness Vale, Derbyshire
This decrepit barn stands in the fields above our village, a familiar sight to all. One day soon it will collapse completely.
 The Barn Door
We recently rented a farmhouse in Piemonte. This door was in the old barn opposite and was where the farm dog and cats lived.
